Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and sympathy this week. For those of you who might not know, one of my 3 sisters passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, and her service was on Wednesday. After being out for the Williamsburg trip, Spring Break, and then this week, I feel like I’ve been out-of-touch for a long time.
The next nine weeks are going to quickly fly by, and I will do my best to keep you informed as to what’s happening each week, as well as what’s coming up in the near future!
Open House – Hopefully, you’ve seen this on your calendar for the past month or so!! Our annual Open House will be this Tuesday, March 27th, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Students have been furiously working to complete some special projects, and they are looking forward to sharing them with you that night.
YEARBOOK – YES!! We are going to have a yearbook, and you may begin ordering NOW!! I apologize, but unfortunately, there is a fast turn around on this, and the DEADLINE is next Friday, March 30TH!! Just go to this link, jostensyearbooks.com to secure your copy – cost is $20.00. With this being our last year, I’m sure you will want to have a memento of all the wonderful events that have occurred this year at St. Philip’s!
NO School – Students will be out of school on Friday, 3/30 and Monday, 4/2 for the Easter holiday.
ITBS/CogAT Testing, – Students in 1st – 5th grades will be testing the week we return from Easter – April 3rd – 6th. Most of the testing will occur in the mornings, so please be sure to arrive on time and avoid scheduling appointments on those days. Your child’s teacher will send any other information that you might need to know regarding those days.
The ITBS is a Norm-Referenced test in which your child’s performance is compared with a nationally representative sample of students who took the tests. This test measures growth in basic skills, such as vocabulary, reading comprehension, language, mathematics, social studies, science, and other sources of information. You will receive a complete report before the end of the year, and your teacher will be available to discuss your child’s results.
World Vision’s Global 6K for Water – St. Philip’s Episcopal Church has invited us to participate in a special event benefiting World Vision’s efforts to provide clean water for communities in Africa, Haiti, and India. Students brought home registration information and the answers to many FAQ if you are interested in participating. I know they are planning a fun family day at the Frisco High School track.
Memory Verse for March: “Kind words are like honey – sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” ~ Proverbs 16: 23-24
