I know that all of the students (and teachers, if we’re honest) were disappointed that we didn’t get any snow, but we still have lots of winter to come, so it’s still possible. On that note, I wanted to remind you that the school will be closed when weather conditions make it unsafe for the roads near the school to be traveled. As a general rule, we follow Frisco ISD’s plan, so if they cancel school, you will know that we are closed, as well. Of course, I will still send out an all-school email to confirm, but hopefully, this will help you know what to expect. In addition, in the event of an emergency school closing during the school day, we will attempt to notify parents. If a parent is unable to be notified, the school will notify the contact specified on the emergency release form.
School Guidelines for Illness – In light of the fact that our area is being hit hard with the flu and other illnesses, I would like to remind you that if your child has had fever, nausea/vomiting, strep throat, etc., they are to remain at home until they’ve been symptom-free for at least 24 hours. We’re trying very hard to keep it at bay here at St. Philip’s – washing hands often, sanitizing common areas, etc., but limiting our exposure to these symptoms and illnesses will definitely help keep us all healthy.
Warm-up Wednesdays – We will continue our Warm-Up Wednesdays thru the month of January. On these days, students are encouraged to wear their spiritwear shirts with warm-up/sports pants or jeans. This will allow our students to get a little more wear from their spirit wear!
Next year – As promised, I will continue to share new information that comes my way, in hopes that it will assist you in finding the right spot for your child next year. This week, I learned of a small Christian school in Plano that sounds promising. Again, I have no personal experience with the school, but one of the trusted therapists who serves our school shared this information with me. Her niece’s children attend there and they love it. The name of the school is New Hope Academy, and you can visit their website at www.explorenewhope.org.
Memory Verse for January: “Don’t ever stop being kind and truthful. Let kindness and truth show in all you do. Write them down in your mind as if on a tablet. Then you will be respected and pleasing to both God and man.” ~ Proverbs 3: 3-4
Quote of the Week: “Please & Thank you are still magic words!” ~ unknown
