Today signals the official beginning of my favorite season – FALL! I love the colors, scents, and flavors of the season, but more importantly, I’m anxious to feel the changing of the weather! I know it may still be a while before we fully realize the change, but I’ve heard it’s supposed to be in the 70’s and 80’s next week – I’ll take that!
We’ve completed the first four weeks of school, and learning is now kicking into high gear! I’m excited about all that I see going on in the classroom, but I’m especially enjoying the Science lessons that our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been engaged in! We’re loving our new STEM curriculum, and we are making plans to add a new Science program for our Kinder, 1st and 2nd grades, as well!
North Texas Giving Day – Thank you, once again, for the wonderful support you gave to our school on NTGD! We will receive those funds in November, and we’ll be ready to make some exciting new additions to our technology instruction. The students raised almost $200 with the theme days, so we will be rewarding them with a Movie/Snack Celebration in October. Teachers will send more information in the next few weeks regarding the movie choices.
Uniforms – I wanted to give you the latest update from Parker. I’m aware that some of you have received bits and pieces of your order, and those should continue to come in over time, although there may continue to be a delay due to Hurricane Harvey. I spoke to the Area Manager today requesting that our online orders be filled at the store, since I’ve been told they have our items at the Plano location. She is checking on that possibility and will get back with me next week. Thank you for your continued patience!! In the meantime, here’s the latest update from the CEO of Parker regarding their situation at the home office in Houston:
“Our Parker/Charter family has been hard hit by the impact of Hurricane Harvey. While only one of our stores remains closed, the emotional and physical toll on our employees is significant – as it is for all the affected areas. Nonetheless, we continue to make progress on fulfilling backorders to families by shipping as much inventory as possible from store locations that were out of harm’s way; however, please know that for orders coming out of our Houston warehouse, there may be some additional delay.
We will continue to keep you posted on developments here. Clearly, the safety and well-being of our
customers, employees, and their families are our first considerations in all cases as we collectively begin
the lengthy process of recovery and rebuilding following the devastation of this storm.”
Memory Verse for September: “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ forgave you.” ~ Ephesians 4:32
Quote of the Week: “Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don’t listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won’t tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff!” ~ Catherine M. Wallace
Have a great weekend!
