This 4-day week totally flew by, but I think everyone has really enjoyed the cooler temps and beautiful weather. I look around our world at all of the loss, hurt, and devastation, and it truly causes me to stop and say “thank you” to God for what we have. At the same time, my prayers go out to all of those in the midst of hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes! So very thankful for a sovereign God who knows us by name, never leaves us, provides for our needs, and who goes before and behind us!!
Thank you to everyone who sent a card for Father Greg and Father Clayton on their birthdays. They enjoyed reading the students’ sentiments and appreciated their thoughtfulness.
Curriculum Night – Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, 6:00 pm – We look forward to seeing everyone for this event! Our teachers depend on this time to share important information regarding the curriculum and expectations for learning. Face-to-face communication is always so much more effective, and this gives parents an opportunity to know your child’s teacher better and the perfect time to ask questions. Hopefully, if you have more than one child, you and your spouse can divide and conquer, but if not, I would suggest that you attend the grade level you have not yet experienced and then touch base with the other teacher for any handouts or questions.
North Texas Giving Day, Thursday, Sept. 14th – Thank you for reading my long email yesterday regarding this important event! As you know, our school depends on these gifts, and although we acknowledge that your “giving dollars” are being stretched this year, we hope that you are planning to support our school in some way. Together, we can make a difference, whether our gifts be large or small!
Why technology? – Our decision to focus on technology this year is based on what we feel our students need and where our school is still lacking. We recognize that the world our students will grow up in will be vastly different from ours, and one of the most important skills they will need is how to access information, clearly communicate, and collaborate with others. From Kindergarten on, we want to make sure that our students are becoming comfortable with using devices to create and share information. As our students promote to the upper grades, we want to make sure that we are providing instruction in keyboarding and programs such as PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. We also recognize the importance of providing printers for students to publish their projects and documents.
